Our First Time Cutting Down a Christmas Tree

This was our first time cutting down a Christmas tree ourselves. We were very excited. The plantation is in Roskilde. It took us approx. 40 minutes to drive there. The weather today was quite warm, around 6 degree celsius, unlike last week. With such mild winter weather today, it was really nice taking a walk among the Christmas trees. It was very beautiful, almost fairy-tale like to walk in the Christmas trees "forest". The kids enjoyed this activity a lot. Baby FECS was surprisingly patient today. It took us a long time, before finally selecting a tree. It cost 140 DKK per metre. We chose a small tree that was around 1m. Due to COVID-19, this year, the plantation didn't serve any Christmas goodies and food for sales. But there are cute Christmas decorations for sale.

They sell two species of Christmas trees, Normann and Rødgran. The Normann Christmas trees are twice more expensive per metre, but it has more dense needles than Rødgran and look nicer than Rødgran Christmas trees.

We will probably repeat this activity next week.

J Summary (7Y9M15D): Our Christmas Tree This Year...

With a baby this year, if I manage to eat and sleep, I will be happy already (don't even talk about the laundry that is constantly behind). Thus, this year, we have to let go of our family Christmas traditions... and besides with all the baby equipment lying around at home, there is no space as well. So we did nothing... no nativity scene, no baking, no Christmas decoration, no candles, no lights, nothing.

But our Little FECS insisted of buying this tiny Christmas tree, when we walked past the flower shop. But it is already stressing me out, cos' Baby FECS kept wanting to touch it! After this photo, I will put away everything, and I told our Little FECS that the Christmas tree will reside on his tree and he will go around with it. He laughed.

So this is our Christmas :-) Have a Merry Christmas too :-)

J Summary (6/8M15D): Decorating Christmas Tree

We only managed to start decorating for Christmas today, even though I am working part-time and should have more time. I told myself that I will start early this year, but the shops in Denmark closes so early, that by the time we got there, they were closed. We finally managed to get our Christmas tree today, and J is busy decorating the tree now :-)

The only consolation is that we were earlier by one day than last year - still an improvement nevertheless :-)

J Summary (5Y9M28D) - Taking Down Christmas Decoration

J helped to take down the decorations from the Christmas tree today.

Halfway through... he said, "Mom, it is a lot of work to take down the decorations. It is not worth the effort, since we only have the Christmas tree for such a short period."

Mommy: "That's true. Maybe we should not have a Christmas tree next year?"

Our Little FECS: "Ok. We should only have a Christmas tree, if there are people coming to our place."

Mommy: Our pragmatic son's talking, so less work for me for Christmas next year :-)

Sayonara to our Christmas storage box :-)

J Summary (5Y9M16D) - Our First Christmas Tree

This year is the first time we have a Christmas tree at our own home. We wanted to drive to a plantation to cut a tree for ourselves, but these two days over the weekend had been raining. Thus, we went to buy our Christmas tree after church at the local flower shop instead.

We have a small apartment, thus we bought a small Christmas tree, but it suited us fine, and provided the ambience of Christmas that we wanted.

We bought our Christmas tree as a plant in a pot. In this way, we don't need to mount a stand for it. It will also keep it alive, and after Christmas, instead of discarding it, we can plant it in a garden or a forest. In this way, we save trees. Who knows, we may be able to reuse it next year :-)

We don't have that many ornaments, and our friend, E, suggested that we use the iron beads that our Little FECS have made. What a great idea! Our Little FECS spent the afternoon decorating the Christmas tree.

We wanted also to have ornaments that point to Jesus such as shepherd's staff, star, manger, etc. We use the candy staff that acts as the shepherd's staff, the ironing beads stars from our Little FECS craft work to act as the Star of David and the hearts. We also try to create the letters "J E S U S" with ironing beads to hang on the tree, but we only finish two letters so fast.
