J Summary (5Y1M19D) - Milestone with Drawing

For a long time, J was drawing stick people in the form of a circle and connected by two lines below. Today, for the first time, we noticed that he has started to draw people with full hands, legs and bodies. He was very engrossed in it too.

His first drawing looked a little like Charlie Brown, and so we showed him how Charlie Brown looked like. He started to draw Charlie Brown and Snoopy after that.

We did not have time to practise piano yesterday, but he has used the time for drawing instead. Couldn't do everything in a day, I told myself and tried not to feel that the day had not been as productive as I would have liked it to be, and that was also okay.

Here is a video demonstration of line drawing:

Additional Information:
I was preparing strips of paper with lines for cutting activity and J was very eager to draw the lines with the ruler. We turned it into a Montessori style line-drawing activity. J (4Y1M8) could do it rather well. He could now hlep me prepare the cutting activity by drawing the lines to be cut.

Doodle Sketch

Age: From 1.5 year old

This is a very versatile toy that can be used for many purposes. Here are some ideas:

1. Doodling for the young toddler
2. Drawing for the toddler without creating a mess for mom
2. Learning about shapes for the pre-schooler
3. Practising hand-writing for the pre-schooler
4. Useful for car-rides by asking your child to draw what he sees out of the window. Use this instead of the videos :-)

Joshua loves this very much and return to it very often. So it is a value-for-money purchase. I consider this toy one of the best gifts.

IT is not necessary to buy the expensive fanciful ones. The simpliest one is often the best and most educational as it would not overwhlem or distract your child from his learning. Here is one I like from amazon:
