How to Cook Whole Oat Groats?


Ingredients:

1. 1/2 cup oat groats
2. 2 cups water

Direction:

1. Rinse the oat groats.

2. Bring to boil 2 cups of water in a pot with 1/2 cups oat groats.

3. Boil uncovered for 30 minutes or until cooked and chewy.

4. Drain off cooking water and serve :-)

Additional Information:

I love oat groats. It is so chewy and tasty, even without adding an salt. Oat groats are basically whole grain oats. I am so happy that Baby FECS likes it too. It  tastes better than the ordinary rolled oats, and are more nutritious. Our kids love it for breakfast, in place of rolled oats. And it can be used in dessert and salad.

 In a pot, add oat grains and water and bring to boil.

Boil uncovered for 30 minutes or until soft. 

Drain off water and serve :-)

Sometimes I cooked it more mushy, but it is quite forgiving. It still tastes very chewy :-)
