White Whole Wheat Buns


Makes 12

Ingredients:

1. 400 ml warm low fat fresh milk 0.1 % fat or warm water (approx. 2 1/3 cups)
2. 550 g white whole wheat flour (5 cups)
3. 25 g fresh yeast (or 8 g dry yeast)
4. 1 egg
5. 2 TBS olive oil (38 g) or 50 g butter
6. 2 TBS honey (optional)
7. 1 tsp salt

Directions:

1. In a mixer or mixing bowl, add warm milk/water and yeast, stir and mix well.

2. Add egg and salt and mix well.

3. Add flour gradually bit by bit and form/knead into a dough using hand or mixer.

4. Add butter or olive oil and and honey and mix well and continue to knead dough using hand or mixer, until it is soft and doesn't stick to your hands.

5. Cover and let it rest for 1-1,5 hour until it becomes double in size.

6. Form into 12 buns, cover with a clean kitchen towel and let them rise to double the size, about 1 hour.

7. Brush with egg or milk (optional).

8. Bake at 225 degree celsius for 10-15 minutes until they are golden.

 Add 400 ml of lukewarm milk or lukewarm water into the mixer or mixing bowl

 Add 25 g yeast

 Add 1 teaspoon salt

 Crack 1 egg

 Mix well

 Slowly add 5 cups of white whole wheat flour 

 Adding flour gradually while the mixer is running

 Add 2 tablespoons of olive oil and 2 tablespoons of honey

 Mix well for 10 minutes

 The mixture gradually turned into a firm, but soft dough



 Cover with the lid and let the dough rest for 1 to 1 1/2 hour until it becomes double in size

 Using an ice-cream scoop dipped in water, form into buns and lay them on a baking tray laid with a baking sheet. Cover with a clean kitchen towel and let the buns rise to double its size

 Brush with egg or milk to make it shiny (optional)

 Bake in the oven at 225 degree celsius for 10 - 15 minutes

 Now its done :-)
