Baby Food of the Day: Parsley for the First Time (7M8D)

23 December 2016 (7M8D): I have been wanting to let Baby FECS taste Parsley. Herbs have many benefits for health, and I wanted my baby to appreciate herbs. So I want to start her young. So today, I finally remember. I placed it in a saucer and let her smell, touch, hold and taste. She really enjoyed it. I couldn't really tell if she liked it, but she was at least willing to taste it. That's the amazing thing about babies, they are almost willing to try anything, unlike toddler or older kids. So I better make use of this window of opportunity, before it closes.

Make It Rain Experiment

Age: From 5 years old

Materials:
1. 1 glass jar
2. 1 plate
3. Hot water
4. Ice cubes

Directions:
1. Pour about two inches of very hot water into the glass jar.

2. Cover the jar with the plate and wait 2 minutes.

3. Put the ice cubes on the plate.

4. Wait and see droplets of water rolling down :-)

Video Demonstration:

Additional Information:

www.weatherkids.com explains that "the cold plate causes the moisture in the warm air, which is inside the jar to condense and form water droplets. This is the same thing that happens in the atmosphere. Warm, moist air rises and meets colder air high in the atmosphere. The water vapor condenses and forms precipitation that falls to the ground."

J (7Y9M17D) tried this today. He said that it was boring. He prefer to watch real rain.

Toy of the Day: Montessori Ice Sensory Bowl (7M5D)

20 December 2016 (7M5D): This is using the sense of touch to stimulate baby's development, making the brains more aware of the hands.

Your baby may or may not like it. Stop when she showed that she had enough of the cold fingers.

What's that? It feels cold.

Hmmm... let me find out how it tastes...

Toy for the Day: Montessori Fabric Sensory Tray (7M5D)

20 December 2016 (7M5D): I gave her the fabric sensory tray containing different types of fabric, i.e. fur, towel, silk, knitted cloth. She played for only a short while. I gave her this before, for the novelty wasn't there anymore. She loved the fur last time, but today, she didn't touch it at all. She only went for the silk today.

Baby Food for the Day: Bread (7M5D)

20 December 2016 (7M5D): Today was the second time, she ate bread. She ate bread for the first time last Friday 16 December 2016 (7M1D) at the Christmas dinner at Farmor' place.

I gave her organic wholemeal bread, which was quite tough and hard. It was meant to keep her occupied during meal time and for her to play with more than eating it, but she finished the whole piece. Must be because it is smoothly for her teething and acts like a teething biscuit. If only she was that good with fish porridge, which I really wish she would eat!!! Well, today, because she ate the whole piece of bread, she didn't really eat her porridge :-(

J Summary (7Y9M15D): Our Christmas Tree This Year...

With a baby this year, if I manage to eat and sleep, I will be happy already (don't even talk about the laundry that is constantly behind). Thus, this year, we have to let go of our family Christmas traditions... and besides with all the baby equipment lying around at home, there is no space as well. So we did nothing... no nativity scene, no baking, no Christmas decoration, no candles, no lights, nothing.

But our Little FECS insisted of buying this tiny Christmas tree, when we walked past the flower shop. But it is already stressing me out, cos' Baby FECS kept wanting to touch it! After this photo, I will put away everything, and I told our Little FECS that the Christmas tree will reside on his tree and he will go around with it. He laughed.

So this is our Christmas :-) Have a Merry Christmas too :-)

Toy of the Day: Melissa & Doug Latches Wooden Activity Board (7M4D)

19 December 2016 (7M4D): Baby FECS learning about opening and closing. She of course didn't use all the aspects of the toy, but just flipping the doors and windows. The manufacturer should thank me, now they can reduce the recommended age to babies from 6 months and up :-) In fact babies can many things. It is usually us adults who limit them :-)

It is available from Amazon

Toy of the Day: Knock A Ball Toy (7M4D)

19 December 2016 (7Y4D): For teaching object permanence in a fun way - drop a ball and see it roll down and come out from the bottom. At this stage, baby can't drop the ball herself yet, but may enjoy the ball rolling down the track. Our Little FECS could drop the ball himself, when he turned 1 year.

Baby Food of the Day: Apple for the First Time (7M4D)

19 December 2016 (7M4D): I cut 2 wedge of apples and blended the rest with a mini blender. I let Baby FECS try. Only after some time, did she decide to open her mouth. I thought she would like it, since apples are very sweet. But she wasn't that keen. Perhaps, because I included the skin, when I blended the apple. She though really like to try to eat the wedge though, rather than the apple puree.

That was what's left

Baby Food of the Day: Mushroom Soup for the first time (7M3D)

18 December 2016 (7M3D): This was the first time BAby FECS ate mushrooms. I served it once - in small bite size, but she couldn't really gum it. Today, I made this with oyster mushrooms using the Philips soup-maker, making it all blended, and Baby FECS liked it.

She finished everything that was given to her.

Updates:
19 December 2016 (7M4D): When I told her that we are having mushroom soup. She couldn't wait for the first spoon. She really loves the mushroom soup, one of those few times, when I felt energized after feeding her :-)

The mushroom soup is easily made using the Philips soupmaker:

The Philips model is not available in Amazon, but something similar of a different brand is available:
