What to Pack for the Diaper Bag?

Our baby hasn't arrived yet, so I am at home organizing and getting ready. I have packed the diaper bag. The internet gives many advice what to pack, but I have found that they are recommending too many things to pack in my opinion. I like it simple and not too overwhelming. Here are the essentials that I will pack in my diaper bag:

1. 3 diapers
2. 1 pack of wet wipes
3. 1 pack of tissue
4. 3 disposable plastic bags
5. 1 muslin cloth
6. 1 bib
7. 1 change of body-suit for baby
8. 1 pacifier
9. 1 small baby toy
10. 1 thermo water flask
11. 1 set of cutleries (when baby starts solid food)
12. 1 pack of 2 nursing pads
13. 1 nursing cover
14. 1 small note book
15. 1 pen
16. Wallet (not shown on picture)
17. 1 thermo baby food flask when baby starts solid food to transport Chinese chicken/fish porridge (still missing from picture, waiting for it to arrive from my sweet sister Singapore :-))
18. 1 baby board book

Additional Information:

Ok, I mentioned that I will use my sports bag as the diaper bag, but I have to take back my words. I have been too vain, and went to buy myself a diaper bag. This is Skip Hop Dash Deluxe Black diaper bag. It is sporty, compact and unisex, so that Daddy FECS and I can just share a diaper bag, and we don't have to pack 2 separate ones. Also Daddy FECS said that if I use my favorite sports bag, I am going to wear it out. Aaawww, he was so sweet. I felt guilty spending money on a new diaper bag, but he has totally taken away my guilt :-)

It is also available from Amazon:

Cucumber, Lime & Apple Juice

Serves 3 tall glasses

Ingredients:

1. 2 cucumbers sliced into sticks
2. 2 apples sliced
3. 2 limes peeled and cut
4. 2 kiwis peeled and sliced (optional)
5. 1 packet (20g) mint leaves

Directions:

Blend together in a cold-pressed juicer and serve :-)

Additional Information:

We saw this in a TV program 2 days ago and decided to try it yesterday. I made this for a friend who visited us yesterday. J was away at the school camp, leaving Mr. FECS and me. I made this for our coach time, where we watched a movie together :-) This juice is like the Mohito cocktail, just without the alcohol.

The original recipe calls for syrup. However, I substituted it with 2 apples to sweeten the drink.

J Summary (7Y1M28D): J's First School Camp

Last year, Our Little FECS couldn't part with us and we couldn't part with him. This year, he is very excited about going to his first school camp tomorrow. He is all ready to go without us. He said, "I am going to be free from my angry mom, how nice, with a grind on his face." The day before, he was packing his luggage (with my supervision). I know I am crazy in uploading so many pictures of him packing his luggage. I want to remember every single moment... It is only a one-day camp, but it marked yet another milestone. Sob sob.... Joshua is growing up, and can do without me anymore...

3 May 2016 (7Y1M29D): On his way to the school camp... J said he wouldn't miss us at all :-(, so different from last year, when he refused to go, because he said he would miss us... Boy, what a difference a year has made in school...

Our son... he is grown up now... sob sob...

J Summary (7Y2M28D): Selected for the National Suzuki Piano Workshop

We went for the piano lesson today. The teacher asked if we will be interested to go for the National Suziki Piano Workshop. It is basically a 4D3N Piano camp, where teachers and students are gathered from UK, Denmark, Poland, etc. in Denmark, where the kids will have intensive lessons. In between lessons, they have recreation with table-tennis, football and cakes. It is for kids 7-15 years old.

The teacher told us that she only has 3 places, and that she has selected her three best and most hardworking students. It will be Aksel, Ida and J. It is a way to encourage J.

I am so glad that I have been practising with J for the last 2 years, and that my choice of going part-time has paid off. This is one of the best news we have heard. I shared it with Daddy FECS.

Strawberry Popsicle

Makes 9 popsicles

Ingredients:

1. 2 apples sliced
2. 2 oranges sliced
3. A handful of strawberries
4. 1 tsp of sugar, honey or maple syrup (optional)

Directions:

1. Juice out the above fruits using a cold-pressed juicer (we use Hurom fine filter setting for juice)
2. Pour into Popsicle mold.
3. Freeze in freezer overnight or until it turn into ice.

Additional Information:

It was J's idea to freeze orange juice with ice-cube mold. Then I built on it - making Popsicles with fruit juice.

We didn't get to go to church today. The road was blocked for Marathon, and I could not drive out. So we made this today.

I have bought the LEGO popsicle mold from Legoland a few years ago, when J was still very very young and never got to use it, since I don't see a pressing need to introduce ice-cream to him. So this is the very first time it made its maiden's debut :-)

This is a very healthy way to eat ice-cream - no artificial favoring, all from real fruit using real strawberries and raspberries for favoring. You can sweeten it with sugar, but it is sweet enough for us.

It is another way of enjoying healthy and nutritious juicing :-)

We only have 3 popsicle molds, so we drank the rest of the fruit juice instead.

6 May 2016 (7Y2M1D): J wanted to make more fruit popsicle today. We made it in the morning and froze it ready for this evening.
