·         Then print heart shape hearts from shape sorter onto construction paper with poster colours.

·         Help the children to write the theme verse and let them bring home to use as memory card verse.

·         Those children who can write, let them copy the theme verse.

Say: “What word do you think of when you see a heart? Here in the Bible it says, “Let us love. Do you know whom the Bible tells us to love? Read the whole verse “Love one another”. We can begin by loving everyone in the room.

Say: “How can we show love to one another? When we show respect and kindness to others, we are showing love each other. By thinking about the needs of others such as by making a card to cheer someone up. By sharing your toys to children who have few toys, by playing with everyone and inviting new children to join in, by visiting your granny who may be lonely, by listening attentively when someone talks, by being a good friend, by cooperating and sharing, by telling others about Jesus.”

Say: “We show our love by meeting the needs of others. We can show love is by being willing to give in to the other's wishes, requests and concerns.

Say: “We can’t love one another in our sinful nature. We need God’s Holy Spirit within us. Then love becomes a behaviour flowing from within. How can we have the Holy Spirit in us? By accepting Jesus Christ as our Saviour.”

Activity 2: Stringing Bead Bracelet for Mommy

·         Provide beads and strings and let the children string a bracelet and bring it home for their mommy.

Say: “How do your parents show love to you? By playing with you, by listening to you when you talk, by giving you lots of hugs and kisses. How do you show love to your parents? By helping mommy to set the table, by giving mommy and daddy a hug, by helping mommy to clean up, by making a present for mommy.”

Activity 3: Make a Christmas Card

·         Provide construction papers and Christmas stickers for the children to make Christmas card.

·         Make Christmas cards to be sent to the children who are not there.

Say: “One of the ways to show love is to make a card and send to those children who are not with us or could not join us.”

Activity 4: Kitchen Station

·         Provide fruit and vegetables toys for the children to prepare food.

·         Provide placemat for the children to set the table and help serve the “food” they prepared.

Say: “When you love someone, you can show love by making and serving food for that person.”

1.30 – 1.40pm: Bible Story Time

Bible Story: Jesus’ Love

God’s love to us is shown by Jesus. Jesus loved people. He loved thieves, tax collectors, sick people, poor people, children and everyone. He loved people who are similar to him and people who are different from him. He loved people who were nice to Him and people who are mean to him.

·         God calls us to love others, just as He loves us.

·         We show love to others by forgiving, accepting and honoring them.

·         We can only love others when we are full of God's love

We can learn how to love like Jesus by living out the following "one another" passages in the Bible.

1.     Forgive one another (Colossians 3:13).

Say: “The ultimate example of forgiveness was displayed when Jesus hung on the Cross and cried out for those who were crucifying Him: "Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing" (Luke 23:34). We should forgive others even when they don't deserve it or ask for it. That demonstrates a love that keeps no record of wrongs (1 Corinthians 13:5).”

2.     Accept one another (Romans 15:7).

Say: “To truly love someone, you must avoid trying to change the person for your own purposes. Accepting love is patient and kind, even when someone does not meet your expectations (1 Corinthians 13:4).”

3.     Honour one another (Romans 12:10).

Say: “How do we honour one another? Honour means to value one another. How do you honour your parents? By obeying their instructions.”

Say: “How do we honour others? By saying thank you and praising others for their efforts and the things they have done for us. By inviting them to your home, making a meal for them, spending time with them and being friends with those who are different from us. Honour walks hand-in-hand with humility.”

Loving others isn't always easy. It means forgiving, accepting and honouring even those who are different and difficult. Our ability to love others comes from God (1 John 4:7). We can only give love when our hearts are full of God's love. That is the formula. Any other attempt at loving one another will not work.

Bible Verse: John 13:34 – A new commandment I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.

Ask the children to recite it one-by-one John 13:34 “Love one another.”

1.40 – 1.50pm: Singing

Introduce the key Bible Verses with musical instruments, hand motions and songs as follows:

·         Welcome to the Family

·         Beloved let us love one another

·         Jesus Loves Me

·         A New Commandment I Give Unto You

1.50 – 2pm: Snack Time

·         Sing the “Say Grace Song

·         Pray to thank God for the snack and for His love for each person.

·         Bring out the muffins/pancakes along with napkins and small paper plates.

·         Let each child choose a muffin and hand it to the person on his right. Talk about how when we show respect and kindness to others, we are showing love to each other.

·         Evaluation: Have the children state ways of showing love that they can remember.

2 – 2.15pm: Physical Game Time

Activity 5: Hearts Hide & Seek

·         Hide the hearts around the classroom before the class starts.

·         Today, I have hidden God’s love letters to you all around the room.

·         These love letters are written on hearts.

·         Do you think you can find them?

·         It’s time for “Hide and Seek Hearts!”

·         Have the children for the hearts on the count of 3.

·         Monitor the search, by ensuring that all children find at least one heart.

·         Give the students a round of applause for finding the hearts!

·         Say: “Each of these hearts has a letter from God. I’m going to read the letter one-by-one and assemble them to form the message.”

·         Listen very carefully.

Activity 6: Letter Mat for Hopping

·         Write the letters “L O V E” on plain A4 paper each and taped them onto the floor in a line.

·         Ask the children to stand in line and hop from one letter to another.

·         As they hop, ask them to say out the name of the letter.

·         When they hop on the last letter E, ask the child to say to the child who has finished hopping before him, “Let us love one another” and give the child a hug.

2.15 – 2.30pm: Clean up Time

·         Say: “What are some of the ways you can show love? You can show love by helping teachers to clean up.”

·         Clean up together and sing the song “Time to Clean Up”

2.30pm: Parents pick up kids

Contingency Activity: Make a “Love One Another” Photo Frame

A craft in which the children work together help foster cooperation and sharing:

·         Provide two pieces of 8- by 10-inch (20 x 25cm) cardboard.

·         Cut the center from one piece, leaving about 2 inches around the edge for the frame.

·         Cover the frame with brown paper from a grocery bag.

·         Write at the top of the frame, "Love One Another."

·         Have the children press their thumbs into an ink pad, then onto the frame.

·         The kids will use markers to decorate their own thumbprint, creating a picture of themselves.

·         They should also write their names under their pictures (or teachers can help them to write their names).

·         Take a digital picture of the entire group and print it.

·         Tape the group picture behind the frame piece so the picture shows from the front.

·         Glue or tape the whole cardboard piece onto the back of the picture for stability.

Welcome to the Family

Welcome to the Family
We’re glad that you have come
To share your life with us
As we grow in love
And may we always be to you
What God would have us be
A family always there
To be strong and to lean on

May we learn to love each other
More with each new day
May words of love be on our lips
In everything we say
May the Spirit melt our hearts
And teach us how to pray
That we might be
A true Family

Video Demonstration:

Jesus Loves Me
Jesus loves me this I know
For the Bible tells me so
Little ones to him belong
They are weak, but he is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me (3x)
The Bible tells me so!

Jesus loves me! He who died
Heaven’s gate to open wide
He will wash away my sin
Let His little child come in

Yes, Jesus loves me (3x)
The Bible tells me so!

Jesus loves me! He will stay
Close beside me all the way
He’s prepared a home for me
And some day His face I’ll see

Yes, Jesus loves me (3x)
The Bible tells me so!

Video Demonstration:

A New Commandment I Give Unto You

A new commandment I give unto you
That you love one another as I have loved you (2x)
By this shall all men know you are my disciples
If you have love one for another (2x)

Video Demonstration:

Beloved Let Us Love On Another

Beloved Let Us Love On Another
For love is of God
And everyone who loves is born of God
And he knows God
The one who does not love
Does not know God
For God is love
Beloved Let Us Love On Another
For love is of God
