This is the first time I introduced subtraction to J (5Y1M19D). He could grasp the concept as this book provides a very concrete way of explaining subtraction. I asked him to imagine he has 10 muffins and eaten 3 of them, how many he would have left, and he could say 3, and I explained that that means subtraction.
