Montessori Activity: Self-Service Pantry Station for Toddlers

Joshua's Pantry & Snack Bar Self-Service Station
Age: From 2.5 years old

Objective(s):
1. To help the child to develop independence skills and self-confidence.
2. To help the child to develop the good habit of doing things himself.

Items:
1. Big plates (for daddy & mommy)
2. Small plastic plates
3. Big bowls
4. Small rice bowls
5. Container containing forks, spoons and knives (for daddy & mommy)
6. Container containing kid-size forks, spoons and knives
7. Cups
8. Disposable placemats

Additional Information:
I set this up today, and Joshua was very proud and started using it straight away after coming home from daycare by pouring himself a cup of water, setting the table, opening the jars of snacks, and tearing a piece of the toilet roll for wiping.

Joshua is entering a sensitive period (from around 3 - 6 years old), whereby he wants to copy and mimic adults' work. I think it is a good time to set up Self-Service Station for him now.
