Montessori Activity: Matching Items with Letters with Lego

Age: From 3 years old

Objective(s): To teach the full alphabet in a fun way

Materials:
1. 1 container with small items starting with a - z.
2. 1 container with lego bricks from a - z.
2. 1 Lego building plate
3. 1 tray

Directions:
1. Demonstrate by arranging the lego letter bricks on the lego building plate first, and invite your child to try.

2. Demonstrate by matching the items with the letters, saying, for example, "
'a' says "aaah", 'a' is for apple.

3. Invite your child to try and match the rest of the items.

Tips:
After finishing one round, you can take some of the items out and invite your child to fill in the missing items.

Additional Information:
This is another idea using Lego, which came to mind, and I am recording it down. After working on the arranging letters activity, you can move on to this activity to match the items with the letters. I am looking forward to trying it out with Joshua. The Lego Letters Set is available from Amazon. It is unfortunately rather expensive. I got the small items that go with the letters from around the home and the flea market.
